Cooling Spots

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Sault Ste. Marie. Hot and humid conditions begin Tuesday, June 30, through Friday, July 3. The City is making residents aware of facilities that can serve as a cooling spot to find relief from the heat:

  • Bellevue and Manzo Park Splash Pad (Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Northern Community Centre rink (Open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Rotary Interactive Fountain at the Downtown Plaza (Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Outdoor pools Manzo and Greco (Open 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (Open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and the North Branch Public Library (Open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • John Rhodes Centre (Open to the public 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
  • John Rhodes Pool Visit www.johnrhodespool.ca for swim times before attending this facility.

During periods of hot weather, the safety of all residents is the priority. Anyone without access to air conditioning or a cooling area can visit one of the City’s cooling spots listed above. The City reminds residents to follow Algoma Public Health recommendations during a heat warning and to stay safe.
