Call for artists: VIVID ArtFest 2026

Vivid Art Fest

The City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Local Immigration Partnership are inviting artists to leave their mark on the City’s cultural landscape. In collaboration with the upcoming VIVID ArtFest taking place September 17 to 19, 2026, artists are invited to submit their applications to be considered for the creation of a mural in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. This year, the festival will support the creation of three new murals.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase the region’s rich diversity and creativity. As part of the project’s commitment to supporting local talent and artists within Northern Ontario, this festival is specifically seeking applicants from or with a connection to the region, although interested artists from all communities across Canada are encouraged to apply.

“We’re excited to see how artists will transform spaces across the city through bold, creative expression. VIVID ArtFest is all about colour, culture, and community, and these murals will leave a lasting impact for residents and visitors alike,” said Aliesha Moore, City of Sault Ste. Marie Arts and Culture Lead.

Artists can apply by completing the online application form, including three portfolio pieces, three references, and a resume detailing their previous experience.

The City is also seeking property owners who are interested in having a mural installed on their building as part of VIVID ArtFest. Interested property owners are encouraged to contact Aliesha Moore, Arts and Culture Lead, by phone at 705-989-8240 or email at a.moore@cityssm.on.ca to express their interest and learn more about the process.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m.
