As construction continues on the East Street reconstruction project, the intersection of Queen Street and East Street will be temporarily closed beginning August 31 to accommodate the next phase of work.
To maintain access for residents, businesses, and transit users, the following traffic management measures will be implemented:
- Queen Street, between Pilgrim Street and East Street, will temporarily operate as a two-way street. Traffic barrels will create a turnaround area near East Street for small vehicles only, ensuring continued access to local properties and businesses.
- Queen Street, between East Street and Brock Street, will also temporarily operate as a two-way street with a turnaround area near East Street for small vehicles only.
Motorists wanting to avoid the construction area can follow posted detour routes via Church Street and Wellington Street. Road closure signage will be installed on Queen Street and East Street, with local traffic access clearly identified where applicable. East Street, between Bay Street and Gouin Street, will remain open to local traffic only. Pedestrians and drivers are reminded to exercise caution in the area and follow all posted signage and traffic control measures
The following temporary transit detours will be in effect during the closure:
1 Hillside Clockwise
Queen Street, right on Church Street, left on Wellington Street, left on Brock Street, right on Queen Street, then resume regular routing. Queen Street between Church Street and Brock Street will not be serviced.
2 Citywide 1 Clockwise
Wellington Street, left on Brock Street, right onto Queen Street then resume regular routing. Pim Street between Pim Street and Brock Street will not be serviced.
3 Westside 1 Clockwise
Pim Street, right on Wellington Street, left on Brock Street, right on Queen Street then resume regular routing. Pim Street and Queen Street between Pim Street and Brock Street will not be serviced.
Free 2-hour municipal parking lots near Albert Street will remain open, as will the Heritage Parking Lot on Queen Street.
