Cooling Spots

 Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Sault Ste. Marie. Hot and humid conditions begin on Sunday, July 12, and continue through Tuesday, July 14. The City is making residents aware of facilities that can serve as a cooling spot to find relief from the heat:

  • Bellevue and Manzo Park Splash Pad (Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Northern Community Centre rink (Open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Rotary Interactive Fountain at the Downtown Plaza (Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Outdoor pools Manzo and Greco (Open 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (Closed Sunday. Open Monday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and the North Branch Public Library (Closed Sunday. Open Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • John Rhodes Centre (Open to the public 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
  • John Rhodes Pool Visit www.johnrhodespool.ca for swim times before attending this facility.

During periods of hot weather, the safety of all residents is the priority. Anyone without access to air conditioning or a cooling area can visit one of the City’s cooling spots listed above. The City reminds residents to follow Algoma Public Health recommendations during a heat warning and to stay safe.
