City of Sault Ste. Marie offers free marina and boat launch access to Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce that all veterans and active members of the Canadian Armed Forces are now eligible to access the City’s marinas and boat launches free of charge.

The City operates multiple marinas and boat launch sites, which typically require users to pay a $7 fee to launch their watercraft and park in designated areas. However, in recognition of the service and sacrifice of Canadian Armed Forces members, past and present, the City is waiving this fee as a small token of appreciation with a Seasonal Launch Pass.

“The recreational use of marinas and boat launches adds to the quality of life in our community,” said Brent Lamming, Deputy CAO, Community Development and Enterprise Services. “Offering free access to these amenities is a way to thank those who have contributed to the safety, security, and well-being of our City.”

This initiative complements the City’s existing policy of providing free parking to vehicles displaying veteran licence plates or transporting veterans.

A valid ID or license plate number is required to receive a seasonal pass for unlimited boat launches. Passes can be picked up at the Community Services Office during regular hours at the Civic Centre and must be displayed on the vehicle dashboard when using the launch.
