Canada Day schedule for City facilities

Sault Ste. Marie, ON (2025 06 27) – The following City facilities and services will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, for Canada Day:

  • Bay Street Active Living Centre and Northern Community Centre 55+ programs
  • Cemetery office
  • City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot
  • Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site
  • Fire Services Administrative office
  • GFL Memorial Gardens, office, and Box Office
  • Northern Community Centre arena, turf, and community space
  • John Rhodes Centre arenas and the Northern Community Centre
  • Public Libraries
  • Public Works office. For 24-hour emergency service, call 705-759-5201
  • Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre
  • Sault Transit main office

Garbage & Recycling Collection

No garbage, leaf, and yard waste or recycling pickup on Tuesday, July 1. Tuesday’s collection will be moved to Wednesday.

Transit Services

There will be no regular transit service on Tuesday, July 1. Only Parabus service will operate. For transit information, call 705-759-5438 or email transit@cityssm.on.ca.

 

Public Libraries

James L. McIntyre Centennial and the North Branch Library will be closed on Tuesday, July 1.

Marine Facilities

Both marinas are open Tuesday, July 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Bellevue Marina is open from July 1 to September 4, Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Bondar Marina is open July 2 to September 4, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Bikes are available at the Bondar Marina during regular operating hours.

Seasonal boat launch passes are $70 and can be purchased online. Passes are also available during business hours at the fuel kiosk at Bellevue Marina or the Community Development and Enterprise Services office at the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre. Daily launch dispenser machines accept coins, debit, and credit for a flat rate of $7. Download the Passport Parking mobile app and use zone 3759 for daily launch.

 

Pools/Splash Pad

The John Rhodes pool is open for holiday hours. Parent and Child/Lane Swim from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Public swim from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Peter G. Manzo and the V.E. Greco pools are open seven days a week from 1 to 7 p.m., weather permitting.

The Bellevue Park Splash Pad and the Manzo Splash Pad are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Canada Day Events

Saturday, June 28, Hotel California – The Original Eagles Tribute will be at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with opening act Headrush at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at gflgardens.ca/bondarevents.

July 1 at the Roberta Bondar Park Tent Pavilion. Opening ceremonies begin at 2 p.m., followed by entertainment and attractions throughout the day. A fireworks display will begin at dusk.

Poutine Feast is in the Downtown Plaza June 27 to 30 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Canada Day, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
