2022 Sault Ste. Marie Municipal Election Worker Information
 
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is accepting applications to work during the 2022 Municipal Election. Voting Day is October 24, 2022.
 
The following election positions are available:
 
  • Greeter
  • Tabulator Officer
  • Ballot Officer
To be eligible, individuals must meet the following criteria:
 
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Not permitted to campaign for a candidate or registered third party during election employment
  • Received two doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine
  • Comply with any public health measures in place at the time of the election, if required
Qualified applicants will be required to complete an electronic or telephone interview. Successful candidates must attend a 2-3 hour training session (including material review and in-class session) and be prepared to work approximately 10-12 hours on Voting Day and/or during Advance Voting Days.
 
Election experience is an asset but not necessary for all positions. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked at previous municipal/provincial/federal elections and have received favourable evaluations.

Hours on Voting Day/Advance Voting Days
Polls open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on Voting Day – Monday, October 24, 2022.
 
Advance polls are open 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 8 and 15 and from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 12. Advance poll workers may also be required to assist with preparing mail-in ballots for tabulation on Voting Day during the evening.
 
Election workers are required to be present at the assigned voting location from 9:00 a.m. until after the polls close and equipment is put away.
 
Training Sessions
If your application is successful you will be required to attend a mandatory training session during September or October details of which will be provided at a later date.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by email to arrange an electronic or phone interview.
 
If selected for an election position you will be notified by email of your voting location and the date of your training session.
