Notice: Outdoor playgrounds and play structures will be open for use effective July 17. It is advisable to practice physical distancing of at least two metres at all playgrounds and play structures, except between individuals from the same household or social circle.
Walkthroughs permitted – maintain physical (social) distancing
Unless you are ill, or are under self-isolation under the Quarantine Act, you can still go outside, such as for a walk. While the parks are closed, you are able to walk through them. Safe park practices that are permitted includes running, walking or jogging through the park, while keeping a two-metre distance from others – which is equal to the length of a hockey stick. You can also walk your dog through the park where this is allowed, while respecting the established leashing requirements for the site.

The Parks Division is responsible for the maintenance of grounds at municipal parks, sports complexes and various other facilities.

On-site maintenance includes:

  • Grass cutting
  • Field lining
  • Floral bed and tree management
  • Refuse collection
  • Dock and building maintenance
The St. Marys River Waterfront Walkway (boardwalk), the John Rowswell Hub Trail, and the City-operated marinas are also maintained and serviced.

During the winter season, the Division prepares and maintains ice surfaces for the Outdoor Rink Program. This involves rink board installation, flooding, snow removal and monitoring of facilities.
