Northern Avenue will be temporarily closed on the west side of Great Northern Road and the Northern Avenue intersection from October 5 to 7 to accommodate the installation of a new water service for the transitional housing complex being developed by Missanabie Cree First Nation.
Rainone Services will complete the work, which requires a temporary closure of Northern Avenue at the intersection. A detour is planned at Sackville Road, directing traffic north to Second Line East. Local traffic will be permitted on Northern Avenue, and access to area businesses will be maintained throughout the closure.
The following temporary transit detours will be in effect during the closure:
1 Hillside 1CW
Second Line to Pine Street (not Right on Sackville), right on Pine Street, right on Northern Avenue, left at the Hub, right on Northern Avenue, left on Pine Street, left on Second Line to Walmart, left on Great Northern Road, and return to route.
1 Hillside 2CCW
Walmart, left on Great Northern Road, right on Second Line, left on Sackville, cross at Northern Avenue, and return to route.
Motorists are asked to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time. Pedestrians and drivers are reminded to exercise caution in the area and follow all posted signage and traffic control measures.
