The community is invited to experience the VIVID Art Festival, a four-day celebration of arts, culture, and heritage taking place across the city this week.
From September 17 to 20, the VIVID Art Festival showcases the vibrant arts and culture scene in Bawaating Sault Ste. Marie. Through music, visual arts, performances, workshops, film, public art, and cultural experiences, the festival brings together local and international artists while creating opportunities for community connection, creativity, and inclusion.
A highlight of this year’s festival is a free outdoor concert at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion on Friday, September 18. Sponsored by OLG, the evening will feature performances by Silent Nin9, Goodnight Sunrise, and Canadian pop-rock artist Fefe Dobson.
Festival attendees can also explore downtown through guided mural walking tours that showcase the City’s growing collection of public art and the stories behind each piece. This year’s festival welcomes internationally recognized mural collective DRIFT Mural Co., whose large-scale public artwork has become a permanent addition to the City’s public art collection.
On Saturday, September 19, the Downtown Plaza will host a free Cultural Market presented by the Local Immigration Partnership. The event will feature local cultural organizations, community groups, music, dance, and performances celebrating the diversity that helps make Sault Ste. Marie a welcoming and inclusive community.
Additional festival events include a vocal masterclass and concert presented by the Great Lakes Artist Series, an interactive art workshop, live theatre performances by the Sault Indie Theatre Collective, and a special film presentation, Dylan on Film, at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.
