With the air quality index currently in a low-risk category, the City of Sault Ste. Marie will resume regular operations at City-operated outdoor recreational facilities and programs beginning tomorrow.
All City-operated outdoor pools, splash pads, and the Downtown Plaza will reopen to the public.
Outdoor sporting events, facility bookings, and City-run programming will also resume at Elliott Sports Complex, North Street Diamond, Strathclair Park, Queen Elizabeth Sports Complex, and Bellevue Park.
The City appreciates the patience and understanding of residents, user groups, volunteers, and staff during the temporary closures and cancellations. These precautionary measures were implemented to help protect public health during poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke.
The City will continue to monitor air quality and make any operational adjustments as required. Individuals are encouraged to stay informed by checking the City’s website and official social media channels for updates.
