Wildland fire update

Sault Fire Services, with the assistance of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), is responding to a wildland fire in the vicinity of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport.

Sault Fire Services was notified of the fire on July 12 at approximately 3 p.m., and firefighters are currently on scene conducting an assessment and coordinating response efforts with support from the MNR.

At this time, there are no immediate threats to public safety, and no evacuations are required. Airport operations are continuing.

Residents may notice smoke in the area as crews work to address the fire. Smoke conditions may change depending on wind and weather conditions. Members of the public are reminded to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to safely carry out their work.

Sault Fire Services will continue to monitor conditions, work with its emergency response partners, and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
