Adopt-A-City Property

The City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Adopt-A-City Property Program is a community partnership between the Parks Division and interested residents and community groups within the City of Sault Ste. Marie to help maintain the cleanliness of different types of public lands (i.e. parks, streets, laneways, hub trails, etc.) It’s designed to encourage community neighbourhoods and groups to adopt a property to increase the overall aesthetics of the property and provide a safe environment.

Any of the City’s parks, trails, and green spaces are available for adoption within the Adopt-A-Property Program. Citizens can assemble an Adopt-A Property team, identify a property to adopt, and submit their application to the Public Works and Engineering Department. A commitment of 3 years minimum is required with no less than two 2 clean-up efforts per year planned.

Both Public Works and Parks will remain responsible for clean-up efforts of these properties with those requests directed to 705-759-5201 at any time.

A waiver and release form must be completed by each member participating in the clean-up for the team. The City reserves the right to refuse any applications if the organization making the request is not deemed to represent the interests of the community.

A sign will be installed by the City at an appropriate location on the site following the official adoption.
