Street sweeping program underway. Use caution around crews.

The City’s annual street sweeping program is underway, marking an important step toward maintaining clean, safe streets.

Weather permitting, crews are working around the clock to remove winter sand and debris from City streets and sidewalks. Residents are reminded that while this work helps improve road conditions and reduces debris, it also brings crews and equipment into proximity with traffic. Street sweepers operate by moving back and forth across lanes, making frequent stops and directional changes to thoroughly clean road surfaces.

Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution when encountering street sweeping operations. Please slow down, maintain a safe distance, and avoid passing sweepers unless it is safe to do so. Giving crews adequate space allows them to work efficiently and safely.

Street sweeping operators have limited visibility due to the size and function of their equipment. Staying alert and patient helps protect both workers and the public.

Due to substantial winter snowfall and below-average spring temperatures, snow is melting more slowly than in a typical year. As a result, the street sweeping program is expected to experience delays.

To support safe operations, the overnight parking prohibition and bike lane closures have been extended to May 26, 2026. Residents can also support operations by avoiding parking on streets during the day.

The City thanks residents for their cooperation and commitment to keeping the community safe during this essential seasonal maintenance program.
