Community Development and Enterprise Services are departments to drive growth, and inclusivity, enhancing community well-being, supporting businesses, and promoting the region as a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.

Community Services encompasses cemeteries and crematorium operations, central administration, community centres, GFL Memorial Gardens, recreation and culture, and public transit, providing diverse services that support Sault Ste. Marie’s recreation, transportation, and cultural needs.

Local Immigration Partnership

the Sault Ste. Marie Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) is designed to encourage communities across the province to develop extensive and comprehensive local settlement strategy plans for the development and implementation of services for newcomers.

Goals and Objectives

  • Identify and eliminate gaps in programs and services for new arrivals and immigrants.
  • Consolidate and centralize community resources and services for new immigrants.
  • Address current and pending labour shortages through Immigration Strategy Development.
  • Develop and construct a working community strategy/plan.
