Under the Ontario Police Services Act, all municipalities are required to develop and adopt a Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) Plan. These plans focus on addressing crime and complex social challenges through prevention, social development, and collaborative problem-solving.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is currently developing its CSWB Plan. Recognizing that issues such as housing, mental health, and community safety require shared responsibility and strong partnerships, the City is engaging with community partners, including local service agencies, school boards, police services, public health organizations, and other partners dedicated to improving community well-being.
A virtual Community Education Session will be held on Wednesday, November 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. Participants will learn more about the CSWB Plan and have the opportunity to share their perspectives. Residents are encouraged to register for this free online session here.
Once complete, the CSWB Plan will help guide local partners in coordinating services and developing practical strategies to address community needs.
