New Year’s Eve Puck Drop in Downtown Sault Ste. Marie

The New Year’s Eve Puck Drop will take place in the Downtown Plaza on December 31, 2025. This is a free family event featuring live entertainment, activities, giveaways, including Bon Soo buttons, and a festive countdown to 2026. Accessible parking will be available on-site.

Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with a family-friendly performance by Fun and Funner with the Funnest, followed by a special performance from the Rolling Thunder Indigenous Drum Group. Later in the night, The Killer Hooks will take the stage at 10:30 p.m. The evening will be hosted by Casey MacDonald of Kiss 100.5 FM. Guests can also enjoy skating at the Downtown Plaza rink, along with food and specialty beverage stations available throughout the evening.

Chosen by the community, a large, illuminated puck will rise approximately 80 feet above the Downtown Plaza. A family countdown celebration will take place at 8 p.m., followed by the grand finale at midnight. Both puck drops will include an additional element of surprise that’s sure to light up the night sky.

Those in attendance can fill out a ballot to win a pair of tickets to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs face the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Ballots will be available on-site, and the draw, sponsored by Molson Canadian, will take place shortly after midnight.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks GFL Environmental, PUC, and Steel Speed for their continued support and sponsorship of this initiative. For more information, visit www.saultstemarie.ca.
