The City of Sault Ste. Marie will host a community job fair on Tuesday, February 3, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the GFL Memorial Gardens, offering immediate employment support to those affected by the recent layoffs at Algoma Steel.
Organized by the City’s Community Development and Enterprise Services, the event will bring together leading employers actively recruiting skilled workers across various sectors.
“The job fair is about standing with our community when it matters most,” said Brent Lamming, Deputy CAO, Community Development and Enterprise Services. “We recognize the uncertainty many may be facing. Our goal is to provide real opportunities and meaningful pathways back to work.”
The following employers will be on site and accepting résumés:

Job seekers are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their résumé and be prepared to meet directly with recruiters to discuss current and upcoming job openings.
In addition, representatives from Algoma University, Sault College, and the Canadian Skills Training and Employment Coalition (CSTEC) will be available to provide guidance on training programs, recruitment options, and labour market solutions. Northern Credit Union will also be in attendance, providing advice on available financial support options.

The job fair is open to the public and admission is free.
