Proposals invited relating to development of the former Sault Area Hospital
Thursday, October 10, 2024
The City of Sault Ste. Marie seeks proposals from interested parties to acquire all or part of the former Sault Area Hospital site. The City is offering the property in three available parcels. This prime waterfront land in the downtown district includes the former General Hospital site consisting of two sections, 10 Lucy Terrace, and the former Renal Building, which has significant waterfront land.
Interested proponents are asked to submit development plans for residential and/or commercial use across these parcels of land. The redevelopment aims to create new housing options to address the community's needs and meet Provincial housing targets while stimulating economic growth through new construction and generating increased tax revenue for the City.
Proposals will be evaluated on several criteria, including the proponent's development experience, the number of proposed residential and commercial units, project timelines, and additional value-added features. Recommended submissions from the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and the corresponding agreement(s) for purchase and sale will be presented to City Council for final approval.
The proposal submission deadline is
4 p.m. on November 4, 2024. To speak with a City staff representative directly, please contact Karen Marlow, Manager of Purchasing, at 705-759-5298 or via email at
