Remembrance Day operations for City facilities and services

The City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds residents of schedule changes for Remembrance Day on Monday, November 11. 
 
The following facilities and services are closed on Monday, November 11: 
  • Bay Street Active Living Centre and the Northern Community Centre Active 55+ and community programming space
  • Cemetery office
  • City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot
  • Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site
  • GFL Memorial Gardens office and Box Office
  • Public Libraries – James L. McIntyre Centennial and North Branch
  • Public Works office. For 24-hour emergency service, call 705-759-5201
  • Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre
  • Sault Transit main office 
Garbage and Recycling Collection
There is no garbage, leaf and yard waste or recycling pickup on Monday, November 11. Collection will be one day late following the holiday.

  • Curbside collection for leaf and yard waste has been extended for 2 weeks, weather permitting. The last week for Collection A is November 12 – 16, and the last week for Collection B is November 18–22. The landfill collects leaf and yard waste for free in compostable paper bags during landfill hours. To view the leaf and yard waste collection calendar, visit saultstemarie.ca/leafyardwaste
  • The Household Hazardous Waste Depot is closed for the season.
  • The Landfill is closed on Saturdays for the season.  
The following facilities and services will operate Monday, November 11:
  • John Rhodes Community Centre Pool is open for all regular programming, including lessons and swims 
  • All arenas (GFL Memorial Gardens, John Rhodes Community Centre Arena and the Northern Community Centre) and indoor turf will be open for scheduled events.
  • Regular transit and Parabus will operate as usual on Monday, November 11. At 11 a.m., City buses will pull over to observe one minute of silence. For more info, call Sault Transit at 705-759-5438.
The 106th National Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at the GFL Memorial Gardens on November 11 at 11 a.m.
