City identifies cooling spots for residents to beat the heat

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Sault Ste. Marie. Hot and humid conditions are expected to last today through Friday with forecasted maximum temperatures of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.
The City is making residents aware of facilities that can serve as a cooling spot to find relief from the heat:
• James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (Open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
• Northern Community Centre (Open 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.)
• Bellevue and Manzo Park Splash Pad (Open 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.)
• Outdoor Pools Manzo and Greco Pool (Open 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.)

John Rhodes Centre (Open to the public (7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.)

During periods of hot weather, the safety of all residents is the priority. Anyone without access to air conditioning or a cooling area can visit one of the City’s cooling spots listed above. The City reminds residents to follow Algoma Public Health
recommendations during a heat warning and to stay safe.
