Public Information Session: ATV/UTV Municipal Road Use By-law and Snowmobile Map Update
Thursday, January 19, 2023
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is preparing a by-law to permit all-terrain vehicles and side-by-sides (ATV/UTVs) on certain municipal roads to access trails within the City’s boundary. As part of this project, the City is also amending its existing Snowmobile Map by-law that sets the boundary for prohibiting road use by snowmobiles. The proposed by-law regulates speed, hours of operation, safety equipment, insurance, and other items associated with these vehicles.
City staff are hosting two public information sessions (Russ Ramsay Room, Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive.) regarding the ATV/UTV Municipal Road Use by-law and Snowmobile Map Update:
-
January 24, 2023 from 11:30am to 1:30pm; or,
-
February 1, 2023 from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Those interested in providing input in these matters are encouraged to attend one of the sessions. A short presentation describing the proposed map will occur at the onset of the session followed by an opportunity to review and provide feedback on matters such as the proposed by-law.
All are welcome to attend the public information session and share comments with City staff. If you are unable to attend in person but would like to submit feedback, please email
bylaw.proposals@cityssm.on.ca. All comments submitted before
February 7, 2023, will be reviewed, and considered as part of a recommendation to City Council.
