Residents asked to avoid parking on city streets during winter storm

Friday, December 23, 2022

With winter storm conditions expected to continue into the weekend, residents are asked to avoid parking on city streets (when possible) to assist with snow removal operations.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Sault Ste. Marie and area – with total snowfall amounts of 25 to 40 cm possible by Saturday morning. As a result, the City declared a significant weather event earlier this week.

Public Works will continue to deploy all available crews to address any snow and ice accumulation. The parking by-law remains in effect with motorists not permitted to park on city streets during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m. However, during a winter event, motorists should not park on city streets during the day to assist in the efficiency of maintaining the roads.

The City thanks residents for their cooperation. Updates will be posted to the City’s website and social media sites as required.
