To submit a Service Request we require your name, phone number, service location, and the nature of your request.
Requests can be submitted as follows:
-
Email - send to pwt@cityssm.on.ca
-
Phone - call 705-759-5201 (24-hour emergency dispatch)
For all sewer emergencies, contact the 24-hour emergency dispatch at 705-759-5201.
Some requests are dealt with immediately such as sanding, salting, potholes, missed refuse collection, and sanitary sewer lateral backups.
Other requests require planning and preparation to enable:
-
Staff to visit and inspect the service location
-
Activities to be assigned to the appropriate Public Works Division
-
Locates to be obtained from utilities for all excavations
Maintenance programs have pre-set budgets and annual requests can exceed available funds. If funding is available, work may be performed in the current season. However, requests that require extensive work may be referred to a future year for completion.
The City receives over 20,000 service requests per year. Many of these requests are received at peak times including periods of heavy rainfall or winter storms. Each request is important - efforts will be made to deal with all requests in a timely manner.
Note: Requests specific to Sault Ste. Marie Transit or Cemeteries are best dealt with by contacting the Division directly.
Reminder: For emergencies, contact the 24-hour emergency dispatch at 705-759-5201.
