How are my property taxes calculated?

Property taxes are calculated by multiplying the assessed value of a property by the tax rate applicable to the class of the property. See How Property Taxes are Calculated for more details.

How can I pay my property taxes?

You can pay your taxes at most financial institutions, by mail, using the drop-off box at the Civic Centre, or in person at the Central Collections counter located on the Main Level of the Civic Centre, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Taxes may also be paid by telephone or online banking through most financial institutions. We also offer a pre-authorized payment program. Choose from either a Ten Month Payment Plan or a Tax Due Payment Plan. For online applications see Payment Options or contact the Tax office at 705-759-5290 for more details.

What if I pay my taxes late?

Unpaid taxes are subject to a penalty of 1.25% that will be added on the day after the due date and on the first day of each month that taxes remain unpaid.

Is there a fee for NSF cheques?

A fee of $40. will be charged for any cheque or pre-authorized payment that does not clear your bank account.

Can I get a receipt for property taxes paid?

If you require a receipt for property taxes paid, please submit your entire tax bill with your payment. It will be receipted and returned to you by mail. Please keep your receipt for income tax purposes. In the event that you misplace your tax receipt, a tax payment summary can be obtained from the Tax Office.
