The City of Sault Ste. Marie operated outdoor boarded skating rinks and ice pads – Anna McCrea, Merrifield and Esposito rinks, Art Jennings Speed Skating Oval and Clergue Park Skating Trail will open January 16, 2024, for the season.

Tender Opening

The City of Sault Ste. Marie has declared a significant weather event with respect to hazardous winter storm conditions. Environment Canada has issued a heavy snowfall advisory for Sault Ste. Marie with total accumulations of 7 to 15 cm of snowfall expected tonight into Saturday evening. Strong wind gusts resulting in reduced visibility in blowing snow is expected.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie has declared a significant weather event with respect to hazardous winter storm conditions continuing until further notice. 

Following a thorough recruitment process led by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Selection Committee – and with assistance from executive search firm Feldman Daxon Partners – Sault Ste. Marie City Council has approved the appointment of Tom Vair as the next CAO of the Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
