The City of Sault Ste. Marie joins people throughout the Commonwealth in mourning the loss of Her Majesty The Queen, Canada’s Head of State.

Flags have been lowered to half-mast at all City facilities and will remain this way throughout the mourning period. Residents can send condolences through the online National Condolence Book opened by the Government of Canada or in person through the book of condolences available to sign at the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre main floor lobby (Level 2, 99 Foster Drive) beginning today until September 19 (Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

“The City wishes to express sincere condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and we invite the community to participate either virtually through the National Condolence Book or by visiting the Civic Centre to sign the book available for residents,” said Mayor Christian Provenzano.

“The Queen lived a very distinguished and impactful life that will be long remembered, and I welcome the community to join us in commemorating her service.”
