Thanksgiving Day operations for City facilities and services

The City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds residents of schedule changes for the Thanksgiving Day holiday on Monday, October 10, 2022.  
 
The following facilities and services are closed Monday, October 10:  

• Cemetery office 
• City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot 
• Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site 
• GFL Memorial Gardens office and Box Office 
• John Rhodes Community Centre Arenas and pool 
• McMeeken arena and the Northern Community Centre 
• Public Libraries – James L. McIntyre Centennial and North Branch 
• Public Works office. For 24-hour emergency service, call 705-759-5201 
• Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre 
• Sault Transit service will not operate. Main Transit office is closed 
• Seniors Services – Bay Street Active Living Centre 55+ and the Northern Community Centre Active 55+  

Garbage and Recycling Collection 
There is no garbage, leaf and yard waste or recycling pickup on Monday, October 10. Collection will be one day late following the holiday.  

• Leaf and Yard Waste is collected curbside on your scheduled garbage day bi-weekly. The landfill also collects Leaf and Yard Waste in compostable paper bags (user fees apply). The final two weeks of leaf and yard waste collection are weather permitting (week of November 18 collection A and week of November 12 collection B). • The Household Hazardous Waste Depot will close for the season on October 22, 2022. 
• The Landfill will close on Saturdays for the season on October 24, 2022.   

• The Roberta Bondar Marina and Bellevue Marina are closed for the season  

• There will be no regular Transit service. Parabus service will operate on Monday, October 10. Call 705-942-1404 for bookings.
