Remembrance Day operations for City facilities and services

The City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds residents of schedule changes for the Remembrance Day statutory holiday on Friday, November 11.
The following facilities and services are closed Friday, November 11:

Cemetery office

City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot. The Household Hazardous Waste Depot is closed for the season.

Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site

GFL Memorial Gardens office and Box Office

Northern Community Centre

Public Libraries – James L. McIntyre Centennial and North Branch

Seniors Services – Bay Street Active Living Centre 55+ and the Northern Community Centre Active 55+
Garbage and Recycling Collection
There is no garbage, leaf and yard waste (Route B) or recycling pickup on Friday, November 11.
Friday’s collection will be on Saturday.
Next week (Route A) is the last week of leaf and yard waste collection. The landfill collects leaf and yard waste in compostable paper bags (user fees apply). To view the leaf and yard waste collection calendar, visit

The Household Hazardous Waste Depot is closed for the season.
The Landfill is closed on Saturdays for the season.
The following facilities and services will operate Friday, November 11:

John Rhodes Community Centre Pool is open for all regular programming including lessons and swims

All arenas (GFL Memorial Gardens, John Rhodes Community Centre Arena and the McMeeken Centre) will be open for scheduled events

Regular transit and Parabus will operate as usual on Friday, November 11. At 11 a.m. on Friday, City buses will pull over to observe one minute of silence. For more info, call Sault Transit at 705-759-5438.
The November 11 Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at the GFL Memorial Gardens beginning at 11 a.m.
