Have your say on home energy efficiency

Friday, November 4, 2022

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is conducting a study to review home retrofit financing models as part of its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plan. Residents are invited to participate in an online information session on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from noon – 1:00 p.m. Input gathered from the session will inform the type of financing program that best supports Sault Ste. Marie homeowners in their home energy retrofits.

“Retrofitting our homes and businesses is a key part of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting our buildings to be more resilient to climate change,” said Emily Cormier, Sustainability Coordinator with the City of Sault Ste. Marie. “This project will also contribute to our community’s goal of net zero GHGs by 2050”.

The session will highlight the benefits of an energy efficient home, what the home energy efficiency study is, how it relates to homeowners and the financial options being explored.

Those interested in the information session can register in advance at the event page found here.

Residents are also encouraged to complete the project survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SSMCEFsurvey.

A survey specific to local contractors and builders is also available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SSMCEFContractorsurvey . Both surveys will be open for feedback for approximately one month.
