Proposed Local Improvements: Cedar Street

Notice of the Proposed Construction of Sanitary Sewer, private drain connection and Class 'A' Pavement on Cedar Street from Wilson Street to Tancred Street under Section 3 Ontario Regulation 586/06 filed under the
Municipal Act, 2001 (Proposed By-law 2021-203):

The Council of The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie intends to construct Class ‘A’ Pavement on Cedar Street from Wilson Street to Tancred Street as local improvements and intends to specially assess a part of the cost upon the land abutting directly on the work. The proposed construction is to commence in the year 2022.

The estimated cost of the work is $1,578,000 of which the City Corporation will pay $1,534,606.98. The balance of $43,393.02 will be specially assessed against the owners as follows: (a) $128.00 per metre frontage for Class 'A' pavement: The special assessment may be paid in one payment or in the alternative by ten equal annual instalments. If the special assessment is paid in ten annual instalments, those annual payments shall be subject to an interest rate as determined by the Commissioner of Finance/Treasurer.

The city will be holding a Virtual Public Information Centres where municipal staff will be available to discuss the reconstruction of Cedar Street.

Persons desiring to petition against undertaking the work must do so on or before the 3
rd day of January, 2022 by sending the petition to the City Clerk's Department on the 4th Floor of the Civic Centre.
