Official Plan background report public consultation
Tuesday, November 2, 2021
The City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Planning Division recently released the
Comprehensive Background Report into the Official Plan. The City’s Official Plan guides the local decision-making on land use, development and public infrastructure over the next 20 years. Public input is paramount to ensure the Plan reflects the overall vision of residents and stakeholders.
“Community input is a critical component. The goal of the Official Plan Background Report is to present the data we have collected to date, best practices and applicable legislation that will inform the policies of the new Official Plan,” states Don McConnell, Director of Planning. “In addition, the background report summarizes what we have heard from the public and what we propose as policy directions for the new Plan.”
The Planning Division will host four open houses in the coming weeks to gather public feedback on the proposed policy directions. All are welcome to attend and share questions and feedback with City staff.
