Northern Credit Union continues to invest in Sault Ste. Marie

Wednesday, November 10, 2021

Northern Credit Union is continuing its commitment to Sault Ste. Marie’s west end by extending its naming rights agreement in support of the Northern Community Centre until June 20, 2028.  The pending construction of the City’s newest twin pad arena has presented an opportunity for Northern Credit Union to further demonstrate its ongoing commitment to the community.

“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Northern Credit Union clearly values its relationship with the City and the community at-large. Northern Credit Union is a well-recognized Corporate partner with a history of giving back to the communities they operate within and is demonstrating a long-term commitment to support the City. We look forward to the expanded naming rights partnership for the new twin pad facility,” said Brent Lamming, Director of Community Services.

In addition to the City seeing an increase from $20,000 to $35,000 annually when the expanded facility is commissioned, Northern Credit Union has pledged an additional $5,000 towards the downtown plaza. The investment will secure bicycle racks and a bicycle repair station as part of the plaza project.

“Northern Credit Union has always been a socially conscious organization that gives back to the North. We need to assist with championing local initiatives such as the Downtown Plaza to help attract tourism and business opportunities to our northern communities,” says Liisa Woolley, Senior Vice President of Member Experience.
