City Outdoor Rinks Closed for the Season

Outdoor ice rinks operated by the City of Sault Ste. Marie are now closed for the season due to weather conditions.

These rinks include:
  • Esposito Rink - Queen Street West
  • Merrifield Rink - Henrietta Street
  • Anna McCrea Rink - Mark Street
  • Art Jennings Speed Skating Oval - Elizabeth Street

The City of Sault Ste. Marie along with Mill Square developer Justus Veldman is currently participating in a pilot project to test and evaluate synthetic ice. A SmartRink synthetic ice surface has been erected indoors at the Mill Square - Machine Shop building located at 75 Huron Street.

The general public is invited to skate on the ice surface this week as follows:
  • Monday, March 16 - Thursday, March 19 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Friday, March 20 & Saturday, March 21 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Community user groups including hockey and figure skaters are also invited to test out the ice surface. To reserve a block of skating time or for more information, contact Ward 1 City Councillor Steve Butland at 705-542-0546.
