City offers cooling spots for residents to beat the heat

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Sault Ste. Marie. Dangerous heat and humidity are expected beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing through Monday night with daytime highs of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius and humidex values near 40.
The City is making residents aware of facilities that can serve as a cooling spot to find relief from the heat:

Northern Community Centre (Open 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.)

Bellevue Park Splash Pad (Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

Manzo Park Splash Pad (Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

Rotary Interactive Fountain at the Downtown Plaza (Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

John Rhodes Centre (Open to the public 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (Open Monday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and the North Branch Public Library (Open Monday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
During periods of hot weather, the safety of all residents is the priority. Anyone without access to air conditioning or a cooling area can visit one of the City’s cooling spots listed above.
