City reminds residents to maintain boulevard areas adjacent to their property
Thursday, July 3, 2025
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is reminding residents of their responsibility to maintain the boulevard area that abuts their property, including regular grass cutting and general upkeep.
Under the
City’s Property Standards By-law, property owners are required to maintain the strip of land between the sidewalk and the curb, or between the street and all property lines where no sidewalk exists. Regular maintenance ensures safety for pedestrians and motorists and helps improve neighbourhood aesthetics.
Failure to properly maintain these areas may result in enforcement action, including the issuance of orders or penalties. The City may also undertake the required maintenance, with associated costs charged back to the property owner. For more information, visit
