Notice of the Proposed Construction of Concrete Sidewalk on Northern Avenue East from Reid Street to North Street under Section 3 of the Municipal Act, 2001, Ontario Regulation 586/06 (Proposed By-law 2020-49)

The Council of The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie intends to, construct Concrete Sidewalk on Northern Avenue East from Reid Street to North Street as local improvements and intends to specially assess a part of the cost upon the land abutting directly on the work. The proposed construction is to commence in the year 2020

The estimated cost of the work is $240,000.00 of which the City Corporation will pay $228,258.12. The balance of $11,741.88 will be specially assessed against the owners as follows: (a) $27.00 per metre frontage for Concrete Sidewalk

The special assessment may be paid in one payment or in the alternative by ten equal annual instalments. If the special assessment is paid in ten annual instalments, those annual payments shall be subject to an interest rate as determined by the Commissioner of Finance/Treasurer.

There will also be a Public Information Session held February 27th, 2020 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the Plummer Room of the Civic Centre.
Persons desiring to petition against undertaking the work must do so on or before the 11th day of March, 2020 by sending the petition to the City Clerk's Department on the 4th Floor of the Civic Centre.
