About the Study:
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is developing an Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) that will support the growth of both physical and social infrastructure to support walking, cycling and rolling within the City. The City has retained WSP Canada Inc. to support the development of the ATMP which is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2023. The goals of the ATMP are to:

Improve safety for all road users by adopting an approach to roadway design based on best practices;

Enhance accessibility by creating new infrastructure to support people walking, cycling or using mobility devices;

Create connections to allow seamless, comfortable access to community destinations, including connections to the Hub Trail;

Improve mobility equity by creating the conditions where people of all ages and abilities can move safely and efficiently through the community; and
-
Develop a culture of activity through the development of new programs and resources designed to get more people in Sault Ste. Marie walking, cycling and wheeling more often.
How you can get involved:
Public and stakeholder input will be a critical part of developing the ATMP. During the initial phases of the project, we have launched a public survey and mapping tool to understand how you use active transportation in your community, opportunities for improvement, and key concerns.
