Last call to participate in community discussion for the City’s Canada Water Agency Initiative
Thursday, December 9, 2021
The Government of Canada is establishing a Canada Water Agency to improve freshwater management across the country and Sault Ste. Marie would be an ideal location for such an Agency. A Canada Water Agency location would have a significant economic impact, including professional full-time jobs and significant economic investment.
Throughout the past few months, the City of Sault Ste. Marie has partnered with the Lake Huron Collaborative’s Dr. Elaine Ho-Tassone to lead a series of eight community discussions. Participants have shared perspectives regarding having the Canada Water Agency in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as priorities and values for ensuring a water secure Algoma District.
The final discussion in the series will be held virtually on Saturday, December 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event is available to Sault residents, Indigenous communities, and organizations within the District of Algoma. To register visit
