Elections Office is hiring election workers to help voters make their mark

Thursday, August 18, 2022

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is accepting applications to work during the 2022 Municipal Election.

Individuals are needed on:

  • Advance Vote Day 1 on Saturday, October 8, 2022
  • Advance Vote Day 2 on Wednesday, October 12, 2022
  • Advance Vote Day 3 on Saturday October 15, 2022; and
  • Voting Day on Monday, October 24, 2022.
The following election positions are available:

  • Greeter
  • Tabulator Officer
  • Ballot Officer
Individuals must be 16 years of age or older, are not permitted to campaign for a candidate or registered third party during election employment, must have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and must comply with any public health measures in place at the time of the election, if required.

Election experience is an asset but not necessary for all positions. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked at previous municipal/provincial/federal elections and have received favourable evaluations.

For residents, working in the election is a meaningful way to support their community. It is also an ideal opportunity for youth looking to build their resume (October 24 is a PA day for students).

All voting locations are accessible, and the city welcomes individuals of all abilities to apply. Residents who speak multiple languages in addition to being fluent in English are also encouraged to apply.
