MYAC purchases Adirondack chairs

Tuesday, April 27, 2021

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) has purchased five Adirondack chairs that have been set up at locations throughout Sault Ste. Marie. MYAC encourages members of the community to take a seat, snap a picture in the giant chairs and share on social media (tag the City at @CitySSM).

The chairs can be found at the following locations: top of Finn Hill, top of Elliott Hill, Topsail Island, Pointe Des Chenes and Clergue Park.

“MYAC continues to find new ways to have a positive impact on our community, and I want to recognize their efforts,” said Mayor Christian Provenzano. “The Adirondack chairs are a great addition to Sault Ste. Marie, and I encourage people to check out the chairs and take a photo.”

“Our council provides a voice for local youth and it represents a meaningful opportunity to contribute to our community. We are proud to support Sault Ste. Marie through our capital budget and Youth Fund, and I hope people will enjoy the Adirondack chairs,” added Emily Hewgill, chair of MYAC.

MYAC serves as a positive advocate for the youth of Sault Ste. Marie, while advising City Council of important issues that concerns the City's younger population. The council is composed of up to 12 youth from Sault Ste. Marie between the ages of 14 and 24, and meets monthly. To learn more about MYAC, visit: saultstemarie.ca/MYAC.
