Leaf and yard waste collection now underway

Wednesday, April 28, 2021
The City’s Public Works department reminds residents that its annual leaf and yard waste collection program begins next week for Collection A residents.
Leaf and yard waste begins May 3 for Collection A (south end of town) and May 10 for Collection B (north end of town). Collection of leaf and yard waste is bi-weekly and there is no bag limit. Leaf and yard waste must be placed curbside before 7 a.m. on the same day as collection of the green roll out cart. To view the Leaf and yard waste collection calendar visit
saultstemarie.ca/collectioncalendar.
Leaf and yard waste consists of leaves, grass clippings, and garden waste that is turned into compost. All animal waste and branches must be removed. Only biodegradable paper bags will be accepted. Please note the landfill does accept brush, branches, trees and wood at the designated brush dump area.
Rural residents outside the Fourth Line and Allen's Side Road boundaries may call 705-759-5201 to arrange for individual collection of leaf and yard waste during the scheduled months.
The leaf and yard waste collection program will run until November 19 weather permitting. For more information, visit
