Sault Ste. Marie Waste Management Guide. Landfill 402 Fifth Line East Recycling carts are emptied on the (work) day following  garbage collection. Set your cart on a flat surface behind  the curb or at the end of your driveway. To assist with winter  operations, please do not place carts curbside the night  before collection  day. Do not set your cart on a snowbank. Carts are to be placed at the edge of snow banks (or in driveway) for accessibility  in winter months. Do not put garbage on top of the lid of your cart. Excess bags must be bag tagged and placed at ground  level. Carts are to be removed from curbside by 7 pm. Report damaged carts by calling 705-759-5201 to place a work order. Carts are assigned by serial number to each residence. Ensure items are rinsed and properly sorted. Keep 3 feet between any obstructions and parked vehicles. Starting September 30, 2023, your blue box recycling program will be managed by Circular Materials, a not-for-profit producer responsibility recycling organization committed to building efficient and effective recycling systems to minimize waste, and ensure materials are reused again and again. This transition will result in no change to the materials you can recycle or your current recycling schedule. Leaves Grass clippings Garden waste Only biodegradable paper bags will be accepted. Animal waste and branches will not be collected.  No bag limit. Single bags cannot exceed 20 kgs (44 lbs.)   Leaf and yard waste collection  is divided  into two alternating routes (Collection  A and Collection B).   Leaf and yard waste can be disposed of at the City landfill - free of charge - at the Leaf and Yard Waste Bunker.
