3. Get a Kit
Your emergency survival kit should have everything you and your family would need to be safe and take care of yourselves for at least three days immediately following an emergency.
The following kits provide a list of items including the essentials, items you may need to meet your family's unique needs, and items to have ready in case you have to leave your home.
You may have some of these items already, such as food, water and a flashlight. The key is to make sure they are organized and easy to find. Would you be able to find your flashlight in the dark?
Remember some emergencies will require you to stay at home, others you might be asked to evacuate, make sure your kit is easy to carry and everyone in the household knows where it is.
