Voting by Proxy

A proxy is someone who can go to a voting location and cast a ballot on another elector’s behalf. The proxy must also be an eligible elector.

The elector appointing a proxy signs a form which the proxy voter brings to the City Clerk for certification. The elector who is acting as proxy presents the certified document at the voting location and votes in the way they have been directed.

An elector is permitted to act as a proxy only once for a non-related person or for more than one person if they are voting on behalf of immediate family members (spouse, sibling, parent, child, grandparent, or grandchild.) An elector may not act as a proxy for both family members and a non-related person.

Proxies must be appointed by 4:30 on Voting Day - Monday, October 24, 2022.

Proxy forms can be filed with the City Clerk in person, by mail, or in person by the applicant’s agent from September 1, 2022 until October 24, 2022.
