Licencing

The City Clerk's Department is responsible for issuing lottery and general licences.

Lottery licences are issued to not-for-profit charitable organizations who wish to hold a lottery event within the City of Sault Ste. Marie. These licences would include: Raffle, Bingos and Nevada Licences. The office conducts initial screening of applications and issuance of the licences, as well as lottery education sessions that ensure compliance with appropriate legislation and procedures.

The following general licenses are issued: Food Vending, Pawnbroker, Peddler, Master Plumber, Amusement Arcade, Adult Parlour Owner/Operator, Burlesque Attendant, Taxi, Limo and Shuttle Bus. Persons carrying on business without the required licence could be subject to prosecution.

Applications, reports and by-laws are available by attending the City Clerk's office or by request via phone, email, fax or mail.
