The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises Council regarding the City's annual accessibility plan. The Committee reviews municipal policies, programs and services to identify, remove and prevent barriers to persons with disabilities.

Christmas Lighting Committee
The purpose of the Christmas Lighting Award Program is to recognize and encourage the efforts of local residents and businesses who light up their homes and businesses in the spirit of the Christmas holiday season. Four citizens and four members of Council are appointed for a two-year term.

The Committee of Adjustment is a statutory tribunal to review applications for minor variances and land severances and to decide whether proposed changes are acceptable to good building and planning practices in the City.

Committee of Revision (Local Improvement)
The Committee of Revision hears objections against proposed assessments for local improvements, including the accuracy of frontage measurement. Three citizens are appointed to the committee for a two-year term.

The Community Development Award Committee recognizes exceptional community development projects. Every year, City Council presents this award to a local business or organization with the goal of highlighting innovative ideas and inspiring others to meet the standards set by successful projects.

The Committee’s role is to oversee and implement the City of Sault Ste. Marie Cultural Policy and the Community Cultural Plan and provide advice to City Council on issues, policies and strategies related to cultural enterprises and activities in the city. The Cultural Vitality Committee oversees cultural support programs, participates in city planning and development processes and undertakes special initiatives approved by Council.

The Downtown Business Improvement Area Board of Management oversees the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally-owned land, buildings and structures in the downtown and promotes the area as a business or shopping area. One or more directors are appointed directly by Council and up to eight directors are selected by a vote of the membership of the improvement area and then appointed by Council.

The Environmental Monitoring Committee (EMC) is the formal contact with the public for landfill operations and is mandated under the Certificate of Approval for the City landfill.

Fence Viewers Committee
Fence viewers arbitrate fencing disputes between neighbouring property owners under the Line Fences Act. The Act applies where one owner wants to construct, repair or maintain a fence on a property boundary line, but is unable to reach agreement with the other owner on the type of fence to be erected, the sharing of the costs of the fence, or both of these issues. Three citizens are appointed to the committee for a two-year term.

Tourism Board of Directors
The Tourism Board provides expert insight into the development of tourism strategies, recommends strategic and annual business plans to City Council, assess and recommends funding applications to a Tourism Development Fund, approves the expenditure of funds to strategically advance the tourism sector and reviews/approves funding applications that would be submitted through the non-profit corporation to other levels of government.

Museum Management Board
The Sault Ste. Marie & 49th Field Regiment R.C.A. Historical Society is dedicated to the collection and preservation of artifacts, archival items, documents and other items of historical significance, and to the promotion of public awareness of the history of the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District. The Historical Society maintains and operates the Museum on the City's behalf. The Sault Ste. Marie Museum Management Board consists of a fifteen person volunteer Board of Directors made up of citizen appointees, two 49th Field Regimental Senate appointees and one City appointee (Manager of Recreation and Culture).
