Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee

Appointed by City Council, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) advises, assists and makes recommendations to Council in the provision of parks and recreation services, programs and facilities for citizens of Sault Ste. Marie.

Responsibilities of the Committee

  • To receive written communications and meet with individuals and groups on parks and recreation matters.
  • When requested by City Council, to review requests for changes to levels of service, develop and/or revise operating policies and review other areas, activities of special events relating to parks and recreation matters.
  • To liaise with City Staff in response to inquiries from the community relating to parks and recreation matters.
  • Meetings of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee are held on the first Tuesday of each month except in July and August. Meetings are open to the public.  Meetings take place in the Russ Ramsay Board Room, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive.
  • This committee is comprised of nine appointed individuals - one member of City Council and eight community members. The Committee term is 2 years.

Agendas and Minutes

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee is a committee of City Council which meets monthly except for July and August.

Meeting minutes are posted to the website following approval at the next regularly scheduled PRAC meeting.
