Sault Ste. Marie Indoor Ice Utilization Review Survey

Monday, September 11, 2017

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is currently undertaking a comprehensive study of its indoor ice usage at City facilities to assist Council and senior staff in delivering indoor ice services for the future. LeisurePlan International Inc., a third-party research firm, is seeking input from both users and non-users of City ice services. The research will assess trends in ice surface demand, ice sport participation, community demographics, assess the general condition and utility of the City's existing arenas, consider additional indoor ice surfaces available in the City and the immediate vicinity, and project future ice surface demand.

"One aspect of the research involves consultation with the residents of Sault Ste. Marie to review their current participation in indoor ice related sport and recreation programs and activities in the City," says John Stevenson, President of LeisurePlan International Inc. "In addition to the community's feedback, we are engaging with all local arena user groups regarding current and future ice time demand."

An integral part of the study is an online survey that is available to all residents from September 11, 2017 through September 25, 2017. Hard copies of the survey are also available at the City Hall information kiosk located at 99 Foster Drive in Sault Ste. Marie and at the Essar Centre Box office. Completed surveys can be returned to both locations as well. For more information contact John Stevenson at 416-703-8670 or email johns@leisureplan.ca.
