Fines Issued
Friday, September 9, 2016
Fines were issued by Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services in relation to two recent fire investigations earlier this week.
"In both cases, home occupants were vulnerable to tragic consequences due to no working smoke alarms present," reported Fire Prevention Officer Rocco Celetti. "Thankfully that was not the outcome here. We're hoping that these fines serve as a reminder to all residents that smoke alarms are required by law. Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services will continue to enforce these regulations."
Noted offences were disabling a smoke alarm and failure to install a smoke alarm where required. Each fine was $360.
